Preface

The international conference on science education; World Conference on New Trends in Science Education (WCNTSE) was held in Kuşadası-Turkey on 19 - 23 September 2011. The main theme of WCNTSE was new approaches and trends in science education. By contributions of valuable papers, WCNTSE realized its main goal of presenting and discussing new trends in education and promoting collaboration, discussing and sharing of knowledge, experience and expertise on emerging trends in science education.

This collection of selected papers of WCNTSE includes works on new approaches and trends in science education from Brazil to Japan and many countries in Europe. The papers present studies to challenge conventional practices and contribute to new and challenging ideas about the future of science education.

We hope you will find this special issue provide ways of improving practices in science education and lead better understanding and appreciation of science teaching and learning. We wish to thank all of the contributors for their hard work.
