Faculty of Engineering, Department of Geological Engineering, Tınaztepe Campus 35160, Buca
İzmir, TR

October 1, 2012 – October 5, 2012

Dear Colleagues,

IESCA 2012 has now successfully merged into the geologic past through your invaluable contributions. Overall, we hope that the main aims of the meeting were achieved for senior and young scientists alike via the scientific presentations, exchange of knowledge, new contacts and initial steps toward future collaborations.

The scientific abstracts, field and social-trip books will be on our webpage soon for the use of all. Contributions to the “Non-Metallic and Metallic Deposits of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean Regions”, “Tertiary Geodynamic Development of the Aegean Region: Magmatic Perspective” and "Post-Collisional Cenozoic Extensional Tectonics in the Aegean Region" technical sessions will be published in International Geology Review, Lithos, and Tectonophysics respectively, as special issues. Of course, the normal journal protocols for submission and peer review will be followed. Participants in these sessions who are interested in publishing full manuscripts of their oral or poster sessions in these special issues should contact Dejan Prelevic and Ioan Seghedi (Lithos), Steve Mittwede (International Geology Review) and İbrahim Çemen, Cahit Helvacı and Yalçın Ersoy (Tectonophysics).

We look forward to receiving your comments and critiques concerning the IESCA 2012 meeting in order to help us better organize other high-standard scientific meetings in the near future. We trust that everyone made it safely home with a multitude of good memories, new friendships and plans for future collaborations.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the prominent earth scientists from many different countries who gave of their valuable time to participate in the IESCA 2012 meeting. On behalf of the organizing committee, I once again would like to express my sincere appreciation to all who contributed to the success of IESCA 2012.

With my kind regards,
Prof. Dr. Cahit HELVACI
President of IESCA 2012
On behalf of the Organizing Committee
